El Naturalista - the search for the perfect mid calf boot

I have been on the hunt for some time now for the perfect mid calf boot. The aim is to wear them with my handknitted socks which would be poking out the top of them. I would wear them with the darkest opaque stockings that I could find and a short denim or black skirt. I looked all over Chadstone with absolutely no luck. I had heard about El Naturalista before but they are soooo expensive. Not only that but Amazon won't send them to Australia as it would void the warranty (?). Eventually I found the perfect pair from an Australian mob called Yodgee. They retail at $299 and they had them on sale for $145!!!!

Of course I only wanted to buy them online as it's difficult to go shoe shopping with a 3.5yr old and a 2mth old. I am a standard size 9/40 so went with that. Low and behold their sizing is out and they are too small. Try as I might, they weren't going to work...especially with handknitted socks. So I'm hoping they offer refunds...coz I ended up finding another perfect pair (that fit) right around the corner at my local shoe shop!

2aat Sottopassaggio socks

Well, here they are. My perfect 2aat Sottopassaggio socks. This is the 2nd time I've made these. The first pair having several errors due to the pattern only giving detailed directions for the left sock only. Knitting these 2aat meant that you could reverse the left sock instructions at the same time. The only tricky part was making the short row heels separately and then putting them back on the same long cable. No biggie though.

Creative space

This is my knitting creative space. I sit here during the day whenever I get the chance, which is not often. And at night once the kidrens are in bed. I have the TV, my footrest, the remotes, my computer, my knitting and the baby in the porta cot to my right (during the day only). I wish I could sit here more often... The only thing that's missing is my cup of tea.

Personalised name quilts

Here are the 2 semi-finished personalised name baby quilts. Just have to add a picture applique and the name of course. They are 2 of 4 quilts I'm making ahead of time. I have loads of people in my life that are pregnant at the moment and these are essentially using scraps or leftovers.

Supernova - Hope Valley fabric

I mentioned earlier that I may or may not participate in Freshly Pieced's Supernova quilt-along. I went ahead and ordered the entire Hope Valley collection in half yards. I have received package 1 of 2 and can't wait to receive package 2. I got it from Mountain of the Dragon on Etsy. She has an awesome selection of fabric! And I received it sooo quickly considering where it was coming from. Not to mention the awesome price!

Spotlight find!

Spotlight find!, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

Yesterday I headed to Spotlight to buy some parts to fix our curtains. While I was there I quickly dropped by the quilting section, which I'm not normally a huge fan of. Look what I found? I'm loving these basic spots...I'm seeing a lot binding from this. They also had it in reverse, i.e. white with red spots. So I picked up a metre of each just to keep in my stash.

AMH Kaffe Fassett tunic

AMH Kaffe Fassett tunic, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

A couple of weeks ago someone at Amitie was wearing this tunic which was so lovely and flattering on her. They had a sample in the window made with this amazing Kaffe Fasset fabric. They suggested I try it on for sizing. Unfortunately they had run out of the fabric, but I bought the pattern anyway. I then hunted and hunted online to find that exact fabric. Finally finding it at at www.fabric.com, at an amazing price no less. So I ordered 3 yards! Not bad considering I only saw the fabric for 10mins and didn't have a name for it, which turns out to be Kaffe Fassett Millefiore Red.

Choc cupcakes, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

My little guy and I are making chocolate cupcakes while the prince sleeps. Just waiting for these to cool before I add the chocolate icing. Mmmm. Not exactly sewing or knitting, but crafty nonetheless.

Supernova QAL

I've never participated in a KAL or a QAL before. But I could hardly resist when I saw this one. Although I will have to see what the timeline will be in Freshly Pieced's next post to see if I can manage it with a 6week old and a 3year old demanding my daily attention. Can't wait to see what the requirements are and I hope I can join in. Wanna join me too?

Sottopassaggio sock

Sottopassaggio sock, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

I've finally finished my imperfect Sottopassagio socks. I still love them though. Especially the colour. I love them so much that I'll be making them again right away but this time 2aat. I'm hoping that will fix all the problems I was having keeping track of stitches and cables etc. They fit beautifully too :)

Personalised name quilts

The Kona solids have arrived for the backings of these 4 quilts that I'll be making (2 of each). I just love the colours. The Azure is so lovely that I ordered extra just to keep in my stash. The others I ordered just enough for the quilts. I can't wait to get these finished and under my new Janome Horizon.

We have: Crocus, Cactus, Medium Gray and Azure
