My two creeps...

Manolo

Manolo, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

I haven't had much to say lately. My Découverte has been keeping me busy with miles and miles of stockinette. I've just ran out of yarn 7.5" from the end. Don't you hate that?

So while I wait for another skein to arrive, I thought I'd pick up my Manolo Socks. I'm using Wollmeise in Ruby Thursday. A gorgeous cool bright red. It's a nice easy knit...so far. Not that I need another pair of handmade socks. Considering we're moving into spring now :)

WWFY - Baby Garter Yoke Cardigan

P1000549, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

Here is another job that I got someone to complete for me. It took 4 balls of yarn that I had started a handbag with. Looks pretty good considering the yarn's start in life. In payment, i gave the knitter the remaining 6 balls. Cute huh?

My first quiche

DSC_2626, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

I know that most of you have been making quiches blind since you were about 2, but this is my very first quiche. Yay. I wish I'd made it a lot earlier than now. It was so easy and healthy.

After a false start with the egg leaking through my pastry, success! I didn't know the 'rules' so obviously I didn't make sure the pastry was sealed properly. So we stuck what was left in the oven to slightly firm it up, then added more egg on top.

Notes for next time: line tray with baking paper, make sure the pastry is sealed and add a bit of salt/pepper to the egg.

Hubby's not complaining though, he's eaten about half of it himself!

No recipe, just made it up as I went.

1. line tin with premade short crust pastry (make sure it's all sealed, no cracks)
2. blind bake it for 10mins - 180C
3. sprinkle half a finely chopped onion on the base
4. sprinkle a packet of thawed frozen spinach (all water squeezed out of it first)
5. mix 6 eggs with a cup of soy milk and salt/pepper (hubby's dairy intolerant) pour over
6. add chopped feta cheese
7. bake till almost solid (it will continue to solidify in the tin while cooling down) about 40mins

WWFY - blanket binding

WWFY - blanket binding, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

Finally it's my turn to help someone. I'm sewing on satin binding onto cuddle fleece to make a blanket. In return I will receive a gift voucher from my favourite yarn or fabric store. It's interesting working with this slippery fluffy stuff.

A Hat Fit for Ed

A Hat Fit for Ed, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

Turns out the last hat was actually fit for hubby's brother, Andrew. So I had to make another for Ed. This time I made it a bit deeper.

Little Apples quilt for Eva

Little Apples quilt, originally uploaded by stitch-by-stitch.

We finally heard last night that hubster's cousin had a baby girl. Yay! Now I have a recipient for this quilt. I hope she likes it. Not the typical baby girly pink colours. Something a bit different. The backing and binding are from Spotty. I didn't use a pattern. I just chopped into my layer cake, mixed it up and sewed them together :)
